A letter to Derek

      

Mom’s 10 Missionary Commandments

      1.   Thou shalt obey all the mission rules.

      2.   Thou shalt write home once a week.

      3.   Thou shalt not forget to call home on Mother’s day and Christmas.

4.   Thou shalt make thy bed every morning, wash thy sheets 

once a week and pick up after thyself daily.                

5.    Thou shalt try to eat healthy.

6.    Thou shalt put Annie in the hands of the Lord.

7.   Thou shalt keep thyself safe and come home without any harm.

8.   Thou shalt take care of thyself, take thy vitamins, and take thy medicine when needed.

9.   Thou shalt not worry about anything back home nor in the future. Remember the Lord will provide if thou would do thy part.

10. Thou shalt remember how much thy family loves thee, enjoy thy mission, and make every moment a memorable one.

My prayer is that if you make a commitment to do these things, you will have a successful mission and I won’t worry (as much) about you!

Full Time Missionary Service

Derek is off and running as a full time missionary! He was set apart the night before by our stake president, President Freckleton and he also had the opportunity to help the sister missionaries teach a discussion to one of his friends. He was so excited about leaving that although he was already packed he stayed up all night because he couldn't sleep. He made his bed, cleaned his room, and even wrote mom and dad each a wonderful letter. He will be missed.

We forgot to download his latest pictures from his camera before he left but this is one of my favorites and really reflects how excited Derek is about serving the Lord on his mission.
